I am getting some clippings of jungle val and dwarf sag. I don't know ANYTHING about live plants so please help me through this. I need to know what temps these things should be kept at and what kind of lighting. I know one thing and that is I can either do it in my 55 or 29 gal. So what would be a good bulb for 18" and 24".....? Thanks for the help. My current lights are 30 watts total on the 55 and 20 watts on the 29. And I also have duckweed and frogbits???? in the tanks. Seems to do better in the 29.

Ok I just looked up a little bit about frogbits and it is deffinatly not it. I have no idea what it is. It is kinda like duckweed but alot smaller.

Try to get rid of the duckweed, and the other plant you have. Jungle val needs in the 2.5 - 3.0 watts per gallon ratio.

There isn't hardly any in there. I will take it out if it starts to block out light. But I like it in there for now because the bowfin likes cover.

Just keep a close eye on it. The duckweed can out compete other plants for light and nutrients, and you could easily end up with no plants in your tank.

I will take it all out when the other plants arrive then. But for now it is doing a good job giving my bowfin a little cover in his corner.

If you want good cover for him get a banana plant. They send up huge leaves to the surface, but don't take over your tank.

Yea I think that might be it! I like how it looks better than duckweed.

Well the only reason I am going with these plants is I am getting them for free and or trade. I am also getting some hornwart and java moss.
