Jungle val question

I got some jungle val in the mail about a week ago they were delayed so when they came in they were melted bad. I had to cut most of the leafs off of them. I have them in my 75g all male tank in pool filter sand I've been dosing seachem florish it's not excel. The question is the new leafs that are growing are brown they seem to be growing good is this normal. Think it could be me now adding enough decloriner when i do water changes.

I've heard of them growing reddish leaves, but not brown. You're sure they're alive?

We'll they might be reddish brown. There alive they just started growing grew a inch in two days

Newly transplanted plants often turn brown. The fact that your plant has grown an inch in two days is a good sign. Give it some time.

The way I have my jungle Val planted is I have the roots under a big rock and the fish have knocked the stand off the rest of the roots about a inch of the roots are showing out of the sand is that ok
