I have some exo terra reptile jungle vines made for reptile habitats, my question is, is there anything in this that will harm fish. Its obviously safe for animals but how will it act in water? Im going to soak a piece in water to see if the stuff its made of will fall apart. I thought it was made of rubber when I ordered it.

They're pretty water proof, when I mist my gecko's cage it forms beads of water on the leaf instead of soaking in. Not sure if the paint/coating would wear down though.

If it is the bendable stuff I would not use this in a tank.

I have thrown away many fake plants that came with used tanks that I bought as they had metal framework inside the stem. When I took some of them apart there was definitely rust in the joins.

Personally I try to keep fake stuff out of my tanks. Considering how some points of origion for mass produced aquarium stuff makes me really question the safety of the paints and materials used. Just take a look at kids toys painted with lead laden paints

Im sure it has a wire in it. The company seems really earth friendly because even the packing materials were %100 recycled. I hate fake stuff also but it looks pretty good with real driftwood. There are people who use nails and screws to anchor down driftwood and they say that rust wont hurt anything, is this true?

I have to disagree. I would think that the exo terra materials were made for terrarium use and should not be used in aquaria.

lead leeching into water causes serious issues with human mental faculties
to much iron causes massive kidney issues in human beings

etc.... etc....

I would think that metals leeching into a aquaria based world would over the long term cause bad issue especially if your substrate and other stuff were to get saturated with the substances.
