I have an 6-8 inch B. Jurenese in one of my 125 gallon aquariums. I looked today and his eyes looked really red. Upon closer inspection It seems as one eye is missing theyre are no wounds around the eye just one is gone. Could he have run into a piece of drift wood or rock, and what should I do to make sure it does not get infected? any help would be appreciated.

He is in with some albino tinfoil barbs and an 4 inch oscar 4 inch jag and a 4 inch carpintis. The tinfoil barbs are 2-3 inches. Been in with the barbs for 2 months and the others for a month no problems. I see no visible signs of attack just the small eye missing, and the other eye is red. Any Ideas if it was one of the ciclids you would think you would see bite marks considering the size of the others.

my guess is the jag, maybe the oscar. If they hit hard enough, it can take the eye right out. Should be fine with one eye though, just seperate him for a while and let him get over the traumatic event. Saw a red bay snook take another one's eye out at my local petsmart once, and he did fine for a long time

I have a RTCxTSN that has only one eye. I bought him at about 1.5" and didnt even notice. He's now about 10-12" and gets around just fine. He's a little on the aggressive side probably because he cant see very well but other than that he's perfect. I wish I could get him to wear a patch......That would be cool :D

He should live a perfectly happy life with one eye, just throw in some Maracyn Plus of Melafix to prevent infection. It would probably be a good idea to separate him until he heals, as Onion01 already suggested.
