Ive just recently bought a 5" jurenese and i put him in my 150 he seemed to do fine nothing was messing with him my asian red tail did nothing but the very next day he was up at the top with his belly to the glass and his anal fin tore up so i then put him in with my polys who then started to chew on his whiskers and he just sat their i haven’t seen him eat and was wondering if his whisker will grow back and what type of water temps do they like what do most people feed theirs

I can tell you that the ARTC is most definitely the reason he was chewed up. They do the majority of their destruction at night. His whiskers will grow back, but only if there isn't anything still chewing on them. I would recommend keeping them at normal tropical temperatures like 76-82F. Did the place you got him from mention what they were feeding it? If not you have two options, try to get him eating prepared foods(I would recommend frozen shrimp, the kind you or I would eat, thaw it out for a minute in a cup of water from the tank, and then break it into small pieces. You should take the tail off, or save a step and buy it deveined and with the tail already off. You can buy the cooked or uncooked kind. Uncooked is generally accepted more readily.) Option 2: live feeders like rosey red minnows, usually easily eaten, but then you run the risk of exposing him to interal parasites, plus if there is something in the tank that is faster than him he won't get anything to eat.

I would try the shrimp myself. Delicious and nutricious as they say. GL and let's see some pic's.

Can you separate him he sounds like hes having a hard time of it.
Ye his whisker will grow back if he survives being biten by aros and polys.
I hope he pulls through keep the tank at about 80f and feed him prawns and mussles etc

we just finally got or power back its been of since Friday just glade all my fish are doing well i only lost a engineer goby in my saltwater tank ,but i ended up putting him in a 75 octagon with a common pleco he seems to be doing better the pet store said they were feeding him pellets and feeders but ill try some shrimp and ill try to post some pics up soon.

Nice little cat. When I had mine it ate small pieces of shrimp, fish, bloodworms. Did ok until the aro ate him.

how big do these guys get and how quick.
I have had a couple of them only because of dumb mistakes. At 70.00 each I had to quit the dumb stuff quick. My newest one has an aquarium with one other cat that hides. I will not feed it goldies. Worms only. Think one of my loses was due to feeders bringing crap into the system. Never again. He is now healthy and aparently happy. My favorite fish in my collection at this time.
I've heard, read and see that it is a slow grower. Very slow.
My opinion and it's working for me.
