I had a Jurnese catfish before. It did not do well in my tank. It got really skinny and wasted away. Was wondering, can you tell me your experience with the catfish and how long you had the catfish for. I am planning to buy another one.

My first one also withered and died, but it arrived with a sunken belly and was painfully thin to start with, I half expected it to die as soon as I saw it.

Now have another one, arrived much fatter, about the same length 3-4" didnt eat for maybe a week or so, then I fed it some feeders, neons if I remember right, then slowly moved to bloodworm, and now he eats literaly anything.

BUT, they really arent very good at finding food, it literaly has to touch/hit its whiskers for it to eat whatever it is, it wont actively search for food.

What I do is drop food so the current makes it pass him, or what I used to do was use a REALLY long pair of tweezers and touch his whisker with the food to promote a "strike" .

Hope some of this was of some help :)

I put a powerhead at the bottom of tank to create a strong current. they are river cats so this is what they need. I start feeding blackworms and only with lights out in a very dark room once the fish has bulked up for a couple months start starving it and intoducing shrimp or sinking pellets

I got lucky with mine. I found him at petland and got him for the price of the regular shovelnose instead of 50 since the guy didn't notice the difference in looks of the two...

Mine did really good and I'm surprised. I got him in the beginning of my fish keeping hobby when I didn't really know much. Started out in a 45gallon tank. (3'x1'x2')He ate for me right away. The frozen Bloodworm cubes, and the frozen beefheart cubes, and some ghost shrimp as well. Once he got a little bigger I moved to the salad sized frozen shrimp and tilapia fillets. I got him around 2" and once he hit 9" and moved to the 135, my rtc ate him... He was so cool though. I would put my hand in the tank and he would come sit on it. I used to have pics up here of it. I'll have to find them again.

I think they are a beautiful catfish and would definitly recommend getting another one

Had my for 2 months-was in a 30 gallon grow out and he was 3 inches maybe smaller-all he would do was swim against the current of my filter-didn't eat for the longes time so I had to hand feed him-really delicate fish-but he did flourish-but he wasn't for me so I gave them to a buddy-he know lives with a Marbled Pim and Tigrinus.
