Hi all,

What is the growth rate of a Juru Catfish? Does feeding certain food help it to grow faster?

Also, its fins got torn and bitten, how long usually does it take to heal?

thank you.

Cheers,

If you're talking about Jurunese, the growth rate is slow to the point of almost being unnoticable unless you actually measure it. I have had mine for about 8 months and it have only grown an inch or two. Slow growers like the tigs.

That's is unfortunately correct. My juruenese is the slowest growing fish that I own, but one of the coolest IMO. The fins/streamers constantly regenerate so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Chizzle told me that stuffing market shrimp w/ massivore would help mine grow. I haven't got around to it actually, but I do supplement my Juruenese's diet w live grass shrimp and it still grows slow.

My Tig and Jur have both grown appx 4" over the last 5-6 months. Not a rapid growth rate but not so slow either. Water changes are more important than even feedings.

I do weekly 30-50% water changes, but what are you feeding them, what size tank, & tankmates?

Tank is 7'x3' 340g and tank mates are stingrays and a VATF. Diet is primarily Tilapia, Prawns and Crawlers.
