Looking for a tank mate for my 15" Jurenese was wanting a pike cichlid about equal size.
Anybody have experience with this combination? or is this a disaster waiting to happen?
comments?

everyone tells me the pikes like to nip fins. probly tear the trailers up and such.but for most part any fish to big to get ate should be fine. as long as said fish dont pick on the catfish. I just had to move my catfish becaause my jag keeps tearing his fins. This jag is on borowed time. When im able it goes to the lfs

Thanks for the input , the jur currently is in his own tank. i didnt think about the trailers which are quite long

yeah my jag was just nugeing it for a while. But it tores his fins up this week . and i saw a bite mark so i took the cat out and put it in my growout tank for awhile. till i get rid of this jag. use to love jags. I hate them any more. lol

Jags are still a cool fish to have esp full size, however you need to dedicate a tank to them or have one large enough so he stays in his little territory and doesn't bother anyone..( what about some dithers to take his mind off of other fish.. My red hook school constantly give my cuban and zontus a reprieve.. it's like their short term memory is short circuited with so much going on. however with my Midas the dithers didn't effect him he was still one mean SOB, he's in a 90 by himself.

In the past i had jags. I had them in a comunity tank. and had enuf fish for agression to be split up. I left the hobby for around 3 to 4 years. Now i got this habitat. Its 7 foot tall 6 and a half foot long 2 feet wide. Bottom holds aprox 135 gall give or take. One side is shalower then the other side. First pic is befor i brought it home other one is the way it looks now

I got a pair of salvini in there. a polleni sp in there . when i first set it up. there was as mentioned. pluss 3 jags, 2 cichla a lungfish, The jags teamed up ended up killing off the cichla. tore my first jurense up when i was on a weekend trip. So i ate one the jags gave one away kept the smallest. Added couple more cichla to the tank. got rid of the lung fish. jag killed them two cichla left me with none. Tried adding larg goldifsh that were to big to get ate. no luck they just swam around for months . jag finaly offed the last of them past couple weeks. I got what i call a prick fish yep my jags a prick,. When this jag was 4 inchs long it offed a cichla that was over 10 inchs. Hes just nasty . Once my new batch of cichla get big enuf to deal with the salvini and polleni. Im moveing the jag into my growout tank. Just been having alot of bad luck with jags this past year.

befor i lef tthe hobby. i had a 150 gall. People said all my fish were gonna kill each other. had a breeding pair of jags at one end. pair of breeding midas at the other end. there was a tsn, red tail tsn hybrid, bullhead catfish, uro, green texas, two oscars and some others i cant rememvber never lost a fish to agression. so this time around im alittle upset. pic of my old set up. Reason i had left the hobby . my crazy ex busted my 150. then all my fish got stuffed in a 75 gal . and had a power outage. everything died/.
