I have to put off the new 300 until probably this coming summer in the mean time im going to move the jur to my existing 300. But im not a fan of dw and hides for larger fish so the poly tank is pretty bare.

It has decent flow and i can add a power head to give the jur some surfing/perching action but dont really want to add any dw or caves. Are thry necessary?

Nope not imo, you can make one end dimmer and/or add a nice sized rock. Not a cave but something he could put his head behind for a little privacy.

That setup is amazing i wudnt change a thing. I use to keep alot of polypterus and the worse thing was whenever id want to view them they were hiding, i removed the caves and they were just as happy and i could actually see them. it also stopped aggression from fighting overterritories too! Cats too are the same i think they prefer the extra space.aslong as theres is places like yours where it can be out of bright lights and places to perch it will be more than happy.

I'd leave your set up how it is. Bichirs won't like the flow. As stated you could dim a side or put a rock in for it to put its head behind but it's not necessary

The tank looks sharp as it is.

A little, thin and long, off-the-bottom stick of dw wouldn't spoil what you are going for and give the jur its place to perch up and be pretty and fancy as they like it.

Thx viktor. I added some dw mainly because i like observing that perching behavior. Not sure if its gonna stay tho as im waiting to see if the polys start fighting over it. So far soo good
