How fast do these guys grow, he would be well fed in a 125g almost by him self, the tank is well filtered and he will be moved to a 240 when he out grows the 125.
Can i expect 1"/month or do they grow slow?

now the experts will know more than me, but with my small amount of experience with them, i would say they grow pretty slow and can be picky about eating. probably less than 1" per month. gorgeous catfish though.

Hi there.

They are relatively slow growing I'd hazard an estimation of about 1 " every 2-3 months but bear in mind this is also dependant on the quality of what is fed to them & water quality.
I'm lucky enough to have two.
My 1st one has grown from 2 " to 8 " and i would say that it's taken about a year to get there.
My 2nd one which is housed completely by itself however has doubled in size from 2" to 4" in barely 3 months but this one is now taking Mascivore pellets as well as Prawns, Mussels, Earthworm etc

Thanks a lot, they are $200+ here at 4-6". Really thinking of getting 1.
