It would help if it was an ACTUAL Bluegill.
I agree! Not only is it a Green sunfish in a aquarium with a heater it dosent need, but that aquarium is way too small for a Black Bass especially since both Black bass and Green Sunfish are aggressive territorial Centrarchids, I am sure one ended up dead or removed within the next 6months! Too many people dont do enough research before keeping fish (Im not attacking, used to be one of them which is why I dont mind answering questions with the little amount of knowledge I have now), but to post an article without knowing what fish it is........thats pretty freakin ridiculous!

Very true native, but we have to remember tat we were all at that point in one point in time. But we didn't (or atleast hopefully) didnt go around saying how to care for them. I am guilty of doing that when I was 8ish but I stopped once I realized i was wrong.

so your saying that is not a bluegill? also that a 55gal is not ok for them for life?

Thats a green sunfish and it would be ok for a blue depending on where you get it from but a 75 would be better.

i forgot for a min that i can be sarcastic on the internet.;) people can't see my face or hear my tone of my voice. i knew that it was a green and that 75gal is the ideal min tank for them. here in MN i get monster bluegills, were a 75gal would be small for them to be housed in properly. the crisco ocean suits them much better.

ya i still got my smallie.

here is a breif run down of the most recent natives. i dispatched my old bluegills and greens then fed them to my TSNs at the time. gar/fx5 got my yellow bullheads. TSNs got my lmb. my crappies got HITH from some minnows and i dispatched them into the crisco. my white bass smashed its skull on the glass center brace my in-law ate that one. my brookies melted in a chiller malfunction on a 90f day. when i get into the house i will make a native pond as i love them. i have thought about getting some perch for the big tank, but idk. with the aro, smallie, gar and me i think they would be eatten before to long:ROFL:.
