'Elllooo!

Well I have a 75 gallon tank that has filteration that is x5 what it should be :)

The tank is planted, it has a carbon source and I add potassium and ferropol. I do 3 gallons water change every night Mon - Fri and 9 gallons on Saturday and Sunday :)

So I am just wondering..How does this stock sound..(I have the discus and one bichir..)

6 x Discus
3 x Bichir (it'll probally be sens...I may be able to get some other species..I dunno yet)
1 x African Brown Knife

Anything else I could add??? I want ctenpoma but I dont know if they would be compatible with discus...And I dont think they would be :)

Oh by the way..I am into oddballs and ancient fish..:)

Maybe clown loaches??

There are plenty of small caves and big pieces of wood ect...

I'll bite.

The stocking levels sound manageable. I had to reread before I understood your water change schedule. Very smooth.

That will be an interesting assortment, too!

I don't know anything about ferropol (iron supplement?) or the addition of potassium. Usually fewer chemicals = happier fish, but if these are for the plants, I'm out of the game.

Never kept any ctenopoma species, can't help you there.

Yeah they are for the plants...Atough, they lower the pH :)

Ooo the temp is at 28 C :)

I really want the knife...COuld I keep a group of them??

I hate to break it to you, as it was hard for me to accept, but a 75 is actually very limiting once you start wanting oddballs and monsters. Your initial concept would be a full tank.
One African Knife should get about a foot long, and from what I understand, they eat a lot. They are thin, though, so I suspect with your plants and filtration, the Discus and a few Clown Loaches could squeeze in there. Then trying to work Bichirs in might push the Discus or the loaches (both get pretty big) out of the picture.
Try imagining it for a while first so you end up getting the fish you'll be happy with. If you're like most of us, you'll want to go bigger no matter what you choose for this tank. :)

Ive read the knife would get to 8''...If it gets bigger then i'm not getting it..:)

I just googled and found 12" is for wild specimens. So 8" is probably reasonable to expect. Stock away!

Thanks..I never knew that they ate alot though! I am just really looking for peaceful/adaptable and small(ish) ancients for my discus tank :)

Thanks for the help!

I have a African brown knife and it is great I got it at about 7" and it has grown maybe .5" in 6 months so I don't think of will be a fast growers
I would go
6x discus
3x Senegal bichirs
1x African brown knife
4-6x clown loach
Also the knives are aggressive with their own species so just get 1

Ok the current stock is:

6 x Discus
1 x African Brown Knifefish
1 x Polypterus Senegalus
1 x Geophagus Surinamensis

Im guessing that I could add some more fish...I dont know what though...Thanks for the ideas, Devder :)

The syno and the hoplo are going ASAP but I jut haven't found time yet...:(

Heres a vid of my tank :) [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a4npXDMwpE[/YT]
