I have 20 clown loached and 20plecos in a 150 gallon aquarium I am running xp1 and 2 xp3s is that enough filters for the long run when theyget bigger thanx

You will need a large canister filter like a hagen fx5 or eheim 2262 to add to your present filters.

Panaques are filter cloggers extraordinarie, with your present set up I hope you are doing two 33% (at least) water changes weekly, with a good gravel vac each time. (Presuming you do not bare bottom tank)

Agree with your tank size being too small. You should consider a 180g or more asap, or sell off half of the panaques, imo.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you take out the CL's:

Recommended temperature range: 22 - 27 C. [Display in Farenheit]
Recommended pH range: 5.5 - 7.8.
Recommended hardness range: 1 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 206%.
Recommended water change schedule: 21% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 85%. [Generate Image]

Yes getting rid of the CL's will help but you will still need to upgrade the filtration IMO.

20 panaque that are growing will jam those filters in no time. I would look into a 2260/2262 Eheim or even a 75-90 gal sump. Those Xp's are not enough. Stay away from fluval fx5. I have one and it's garbage worst canister I have.

Specs of my grow out 110gal holds 5 Panaque sizes 4"- 8", 6x geos 7" and that's it. Filtration 2ac110 for surface agitation, 2x pro 2, one pro 3 and one xp3. I still have to open all if them up once a month to clean out the wood dust.

You are going to keep 4x the amount of panaque in a tank that is 40gal bigger. Imagine the mess.

I hope that helps
