how do you verify the lights on a u.v. sterilizer are on? i mean, if a light was off you wouldnt know about it fo a long long time. you cant look at the light cuz it will blind you. any ideas.

hmm, I dunno, I never used UV's, I don't need them! Even in my trigger tank!

The sterilizers usually have a opening somewhere on it so you can check and see if the light is on. It gives off light so don't have to look directly at it to see if it's on. You can also look at the inlet or outlet, you should be able to see the light from those openings if it's working properly. I would change the bulbs from 6 to 8 months if you have some really sensitive fish your keeping.

most uv's have a small hole to see the light or a red light that is on indicating uv light on or not depending on uv brand and such.
