is it the norm 4 a breeding pair of jags to NOT eat at all when they have eggs/fry?

its been about a week and my X-jag has not even looked at food!

Shane

he was a b@$t@rd to get eating in the first place, i hope i dont lose him.

thanks mate

In my experience, no, they do not stop eating - what do you normally give them? Maybe you just haven't found "his" taste yet.

He would eat new life spectrum and squid and he would have a good fill of this once a day (i only feed once a day) now nuthink?

Is that all you've been giving him?

Try more variety and see what turns him on... LOL... as if he needs more of that...

Try different types of pellets, worms, or a feeder fish - just try different things to get something into his belly.

iv tryed
flake (both tropical and gold fish)
discus red bits (2 brands)
4 types of pellets (new life, hikari and some other cichlid pellet all floating and the new life sinking)
blood worm
lance fish
squid
prawns
muscles
crab sticks
cat fish pellets

its not that he dont like them, its he wont try/look at them in the 1st place:cry:

but like i say he has only been like this from when i put her in there

I have a breeding pair of red tiger motaguense. The female will stop eating when she is breeding. I can always tell when they are in breeding mode, as the female won't even look for food. They both usually eat voraciously, so the lack of appetite is an obvious sign. They do start eating once the eggs have been laid.

Mine stopped eating too so I removed the fry after about a week. The male started eating again.... right after he killed the female. So if you do remove the fry, make sure the famale has somewhere to hide.
