Hello, I know a Silver Arowana needs around a 300 Gal. Do you think that one silver arowana would be okay in a 240 gallon (96"x36" footprint). Please and thanks

A 240 gallon with a 96" x 36" footprint would only be ~ 16" tall. Why not just get the standard 24" tall if you are already going to spend the money on the 96 x 36 footprint? The cost of a tank is more so based off how thick the glass needs to be(with an 8' long by 3' wide tank you are going to need 1/2" glass all the way around and 3/4" bottom), than the overall gallonage.

My arowana don't act too happy during 50% water changes. During that time the water height is about 15". IMO a 16" tall tank would be a waste of time and effort.

When the water level gets low silvers freak out, in tank that high you wouldnt even have much room to do a wc

Think maybe it's cus your doing a water change? Not saying 16" would work but......

No, I think it's because of the low level of water, hence the reason for my previos post.

The tank is already built. Well the footprint is actually 96*32*18 , but yeah I'd only have about 17" of water .. I hoped with only adding sand and a few pieces of drift wood he would have enough room to swim around. I don't want to get rid of my silver but I can't afford a 400gallon tank right now.. He is about 22" now.. What do you think the max width would be for the 240 until he is uncomfortable . ~30"?
