i made a rookie mistake in not blocking my filter just word of advice if it can go in there it will and i lost one Senegal that way :/ now i used gauze to block it and no problems:(
 
Same thing happened to me. My Oscars (gave them away) had a habit of knocking the intake screen off, my 4" Senegal got sucked up and destroyed by the impeller.

gauze doesn't let enough water in so im using swim trunk liner i have to replace him :( i was really sad to find him im going to buy another one hopefully no more stupid mistakes:cry:
 
at least my albino is still alive n healthy, BTW had a ghost knife go up the filter n got its head chop off, never thought a bichir can get destroy by the propeller, i thought bichirs skins r tough n protective

my knife fish was hiding in there once he realized it was clogged with a dead fish. ironically my knife didn't die or get chopped up.he just scared me cause i lifted it up to see why my filter wast running and slide zoom into a cave leaving my floor all wet
