i just added pool filter sand to my 210 a lil more than a day ago and the tank is still cloudy. not as cloudy as at first, but still cloudy quite a bit. does it usually take this long? should i do some water changes? currently runnin a wet/dry.

thanks

water changes will only make the problem worse. You need to give the sand time to settle before the water will clear up...Personally I prefur using crushed coral rather than sand.

I used a magnum 350 filter with the micron cartridge, cleared my day in a day. It was only a 30g hex though, so you will have to be patient.

Ok people keep talking about Pool Filter sand and I CANNOT FIND THIS STUFF ANYWHERE! I just searched Home Depot top to bottom yesterday and I didn't even play sand. I tried Namco, Lowes, a Local home improvement store, another pool store, so I am going to go to one more store today and if they don't have it I am giving up my search. Anyone know places to get this but not the ones I listed? Sorry to steal the thread. ;)

whered you look at home depot? did you find their other pool supplies. theyre usually out in the lawn and garden area.

oh i put some kent pro clear in the tank and the tank voila... cleard up over night.

Not to hijack your thread but what is the benefit of adding crushed corals for freshwater tank? Doesn't that stuff raise pH? I used black pebble found at Lowes. They're finer than pea rocks and aquarium color gravel. They're felt sand like when in the tank but not as fine as sand.

FishingAddict, be sure to give the inside glass a quick wipe with filter media pad or foam pad. The sand does get stucked on the tank glass when first adding sand to a tank. You'll be surprise how much more clearer it is after a wipe on the glass.
