Please if your reading this don't always trust products that are labeled "Safe for fish." I lost my old Oscar from using API's AlgaeFix which was labelled "Safe for Fish". Over the course of a month he became very lethargic and started growing a film on him as if he was burned and his slime was peeling off. He eventually passed away and the product also did not help remove the algae. Turns out after researching that the same thing happened to other people's fish after using the product.
Recently I tried Marineland's Algae Remover labeled yet again "Safe for Fish." Long story short it did not help the algae. My Red Devil was stressed out for 4 days. She lost all her color and became almost completely white. She payed behind her pot and did not eat. I did daily 50% water changes and added carbon. Today she is back to normal however her lil nuchal hump has went down
Remember water changes are the #1 Fix to any problem. Just because a product is labelled "Safe for Fish" doesn't mean it's safe for them. Each fish is different and will handle different products differently just like us. Some people has success with the products but if you really love your fish don't do use chemicals in your tank. I know I will never use another chemical in my tank especially not for something silly like algae.
