just bought a 4 inch shovelnose cat

They tend to not move until they get to about 12 inches and even then they tend to not move much. You should check for gill curl too as they are susceptible to that.
be happy when they are just sitting there... when they decide to freak out and smash their noses into the walls of the tank is when you need to worry LOL
Best sign to the health of your cat....if it's eatting.. if it is then your doing something right and you shouldn't over think it to much. Speaking as someone that has had.... god knows how many over the years.. it is very easy to over think things and cause more problems than you "fix"
also a good idea to always keep an eye on their whiskers... long is healthy... short..=stress... could be water related or other so mention it should you notice!
other than that... you will love your shovel nose
