I bought a MaxiJet - 1200 powerhead today. Its vary quiet, almost undetectable unless the room is completely silent. It pumps a good amount of water and it's adjustable air intake is a nice feature.

What didn't impress me is how poorly everything fitted together. The motor cover fits real loosely and has fallen off once already. The airline clip wont lock in. The outlet tube falls off vary easily when turning it to change the flow direction. And finally, it wont suck air deeper then 8" or so. :irked:

Overall its an ok powerhead but something you wouldn't want to move around the tank alot. The price was average compared to most other powerheads but I question the quality. Only time will tell.

They are pretty popular as a budget powerhead and have a decent rep. If you search for mods for them you can cut them down to be less unsightly in the tank and get a lot more flow and water movement, you will loose the air feature though.

get an aquaclear powerhead off ebay. they go for WAY less than what bigals or others sell them for!

I was not impressed with mine also.

Good water movement, especially for the price, but mine are too loud. My motor covers also fall of way to easily.
