Can i feed my 3" to 4" Saber Tusk Barracuda leeches? As in can i just dump a dozen of leeches into the tank and let it choose when to eat it. It is currently in a 75 gallon tank and is having a hard time catching the feeder guppies that i have put in with it because the tank space is just too open. Also the ghost shrimp that is in there is too invisible for it to see. i housed 4 tiger barbs with it to make the STB feel more at home and it ate one, so there is only 3 left but they have become smart and the STB cannot catch them for food. Im a little concerned so i was thinking of adding leeches. GOOD OR BAD??? any suggestions please

I don't think it'll even go after the leeches honestly. I'd just stick with the guppies for now. It may not be catching them during the day but it'll catch them much easier at night

Leeches? Ew, I've never even heard of using leeches as feeders.
Dont do it. Perch like to eat leeches, I know, but 'cuda are fish specialists, I doubt they would eat them. I would also be extremely worried about introducing parasites and contaminants to my water system, or even the fish itself, from attempting to feed leeches. Especially if they are wild caught. Not to mention, some species of leeches do feed on fish, occasionally, so there's another risk you take.

I would start dropping in a couple pellets or pieces of shrimp if I were you; leave the minnows just in case, but maybe him watching the barbs chow down- and if he he's hungry enough from not catching minnows- you could have some early pellet training done. I pellet trained mine around the same size; if they're not really skinny right now I would give it a shot. A little easier to train when they're smaller.

I have a blue light to simulate the moon and a white led for day time. When the blue light is on she goes wild. Another of the Tiger barbs is M.I.A. and the feeders are missing also. Thanks for the advice. Glad I didn't drop the leeches in there.
