We just bought a weeksiki today wondering how big they get and are they really that rare or hard to find. Also we have a 16in ornate a 9in saddled could we put all 3 in a tank together the fathead is only 6in would one of them end up dead or will they coexist.

Its weeksii. They grow to about 20".

I personally would not risk putting a 6" weeksii with a 16" ornate. At least wait till it hits 10".
And how large is your tank? Larger = Less chance of aggression.

Weeksii are expensive over here and I don't plan on making mine (if I get one) an expensive dinner for my ornate.

We have several larger tanks we could put them in 2 that are 200g +. We can also keep them seperate that is no problem just was think would be neat to have a tank of bichir specieses to show. However I would also like to someday try and raire ornate or some other kind of bichir. I am assuming that 20 dollars for a 6in weeksii is a good deal then.

Can these guys be fed pellets or are they better on live food. Would really like to get it eating pellets if I could but don't want to starve it to death to get him to eat the pellets.

+1 my lap is on massivor pellets he begs for them like a dog when i come down in the morning.

also somthing i have learned with bichirs, if they think it will fit in their mouth they will try so i wouldnt think about putting your wik in there, and 20$ is a steal on that fish!!

We thought it was a steal I won't be putting them together untill all closer to the same size. I really like the bichirs would really like to breed some as I mentioned. Want to get a pair of one of the kind we have they are the ornate saddled and the fat head.

Nice to see a fellow Albertan polypterus keeper!!!

Great pick up as they are extremly rare here. (I had to order from Vancouver). That price is one heck of a steal as well.

Please post some pic's for us to enjoy.

Would love to post some pics but he hides all the time trying to find out what he likes to eat going to try some chunks of prawns tomorrow. If he is anything like our ornate will neversee him eat and will just turn into a big fat bichirone day. We got our ornate at about 6in last march now he is about 13 but I have only seen him eat about twice that what I call a good use of food.

thats to bad my lap begs from me like a dog when i come downstairs to get ready in the morning, my ornate and del used to come out for food all the time, now that i moved them not so much but have been getting magicly fat:D
