How long should I soak the driftwood so I can be worry free about adding it to my tank and not letting the tannins affect my water coloring or fishes health?

I also have heard you can boil the driftwood, but how long should it be boiled?

most wood I've found takes years before the tannins don't color the water... tannins are perfectly fine for your fish. boiling it and other methods help but a good dark peice of DW like maylasian DW will leech for many years.

Tannins lower ph and is good for your fish. To get most tannins out to not leach like crazy is to boil it. I boil mine fit a good 45 mins. Keep turning it and changing the water. You can soak it but you don't need to treat it.

I couldnt wait to soak mine so I just boiled it for about 2hrs. It has never turned my water colors an the fish love it especially my gold nugget
