now what do i do? i know this is probly on the site somplace, but i can't find it. i bought one green spotted puffer, about one inch, and three cichilids, about two inches. i have them in a 2gal bucket with a hang on filter, and i put tank water in it. of course i got these fish at walmart, and don't want spread diseases.

how long do they stay in the bucket, and/or can i add some meds to kill the didease?

they are not dying, but idon't want my others to die whrn i add them to my 55g tank..

Well unless you have a q tank set up, then just acclimatize (sp?) them and put them in the tank. Hope for the best:popcorn:

A quarantine tank is your best solution. If that's not a possibility, acclimate them with a drip from your main tank and after introducing them to the main tank, monitor them closely for the first several weeks.

your puffer is likely to be a brackish water fish, and should probably think about catering for that.

Since you don't have a quarantine tank, use a drip line from your main tank. Let them acclimate and then transfer. The problem is, your cichlids and the GSP are from two different water zones. The cichlids are freshwater and the GSP is brackish. The GSP is probably a juvie so it can tolerant a lower salinity level but as it grows older it will need more and more salt in the water.
