just got 'em they should be coming 2day :D:D
can they be kept with other fish??
i am unsure but think there ornatipinnis, there are 4 :naughty::naughty:
will my gar survive with them i think he is 2-3 inches bigger
ill post pic when i got once they've arived :headbang2

depends what size tank , either way the gar will be ok but there is every chance the ornatipinis will not!.

they are one of the most aggresive species of snakeheads amoung there own kind you can buy , they hate each other and will often fight to the death if the tank is not properly thought out and set up correctly , they are a specalist fish more so than most snakeheads,

they need to be kept at sub-tropical temps , buy then depending on species your gar would probably be happier sub-tropical also , again depending on gar some grow easly big enough to eat dwarf channa , some would be ok .

i really would for this species more than any other species, study there needs and set the tank up to suit. did you buy these from rob in the northeast? if so they will have been kept at sub tropical temps in a properly set-up aquarium and will not do well at all put into a tropical standard aquarium £80 or there abouts is a lot of money to throw away !!

check out the sticky section for my thoughts on mixing channa , and make your own mind up . every thing i have put in that thread is more important for theese guys than any other snakehead , i give mine up as they where just too aggresive with each other. given a large enough tank and set-up correctly they should be ok .

you have been lucky , gachua are one of the ones that people seam to be able to get away with the most and tolerate the widest temp ranges , dont grow to large ,will breed fairly easy in the aquarium and an excelant first snakehead.

now the only thing wrong is the gar , depending on what type you may be ok , in genral i would not expect a gachua to attack a gar unless a pair forms , if a pair forms then he may well be in danger, the real probem is the potential size of your gar ,again depends on species ,but it may grow large enough to eat the gachua. but you could always move him on if a problem occurs.
as you are probably unsure of where the gachuas where caght i would set up at around 24-25 deg.
gachua do like to hide and feel secure ,they are very jumpy if you do not give them plenty of hiding places ,and of course make sure they can not get out .

good luck with them ,iam sure you will love them . they are a very good snakehead. and far better choice than ornatipinis

cheers col
