i'm just curious as to how you guys put those covers in the ray's stinger? i've seen most importers have those in the US but here in the Philippines you'll never see a ray with those..

do you have to use transmore on them? also don't they drop of with the old stinger when the new stinger grows

I was wondering the same thing. And yes, the stinger grows back after about 6 months.

I dont know how they get them on, but when I took the covers off.... That was a scary moment. Grab the rays tail,,,squeeze on the cover,,,and pull

yeah i think that it is pretty stressful for the ray
and it can cause problems like fungus and bacterial infections

Its just a temporary measure to prevent the plastic bag from leaking during transportation.

thanks, how do they get it in though?

do you really need to take it off? won't they fall off with the old stinger? my motoro changes its stinger every 4-5 months :)

its harder to pull out the cover because the barb causes some resistance.
I could imagine the putting in process is much easier. They most likely do it
in a shallow tub and use pliers to drive those covers in.

They will definitely have to use transmore to put it on or it will be very stressful for the poor ray. The cover should come off when the ray sheds its sting, u do not have to pull it out.
