I have noticed that a fairly large percentage of folks who post here strip the EXIF information from their images.

I was just wondering why. Are there reasons to not leave the EXIF data intact?

Just to be clear, I am not criticizing, just curious.

yea, i've noticed that too.

i like viewing the exif data. i learn a lot from it and the feedback is much more useful when we know what settings were used to take the shot.

i'm pretty sure i leave the exif data in all my photos and file sizes average around 300kb.

i suspect many don't know about it.

It is usually 'Save for the Web' shots that have the data stripped. The goal of Save for the Web is decent quality photos and small file sizes. Exif doesn't add to the quality of the photo, so it is one of the first things to get stripped away.
