just did a DIY took me 30min. went out got some dirt, light bulbs, root tabs, plant bulbs and some extra crap i got from my other tanks and stuff found in the basment. lets see what happens in a week. :) :grinno:

The point of dirt is you don't need root tabs, they are wasted here. Also, you should have gone with lots of stem plants. The bulbs aren't going to sprout fast enough to suck up all the nutrients the dirt puts out for the first few weeks. You are going to get nailed with a massive algae bloom if you don't correct that soon.
 
thanks for the advice, first dirted tank but everything has been going good so far im starting to see new growth and no algae yet but ive been looking for a good algae eater that won't eat plants and can go with a fire eel in a different tank. any suggestions?
