I went herping yesterday. This has been the first week it hit 50+ even 60 consitantly. I went biking with my friend at 10 pm, and we found one red back, a beautiful northern leopard frog (maybe he escaped disection from a nearby bio lab), baby bull frog, tadpoles, and a bunch of singing spring peepers. Location is western NY, finger lakes area. I really wanted to catch some toads for my hognose (for scenting).

Even though I dont have a camera, does anybody want to post there herping pics! If you do not have any herping pics, I suggest you to go out and enjoy the warmth (if it is warm by you) and find some herps!

I have forgotten to bring my camera with me the last week.

I have stumbled upon a pit of garters coming out of hibernation... Multiple woods frogs, leopard frogs, a couple bulls, and plenty bull tadpoles.

Since it has gotten a weee bit colder the last few days i have been dip netting in the creek, pulling up crawdads for a neighbor who is a big time fisherman.

i wasnt searching but i saw a big momma garter and a baby garter in my backyard and then my dogs scared them back into there hole

just for me,lol......................thanks.I have not yet gone out in the morn or night to realy find many herps.Lots of lizards, bobcat, rabits and such.I realy wanting to go hike some of the southern cali habitats soon.Maybe dirtyblacksocks can give me some locations. In cali you never know if youll be out herping at night and then run into some tweeked out creep watering his weed or something.lol.More scared of that than the mountain lions.

I found this guy last fall, but I love this picture.

These guys are the largest terrestrial salamanders in the world, although they are a LOT smaller than a Chinese Giant Salamander, or even a Hellbender.

I realized I had one herp photo from this year. I saw this guy on a warm day about three weeks ago.

haha vicious. i guess i shouldnt laught though. while driving past the milwaukee river yesterday i saw a plesiosaur! will post pics soon!

I went out tonight! I missed the annual spotted salamander migration by a week, however, i went by this wetland, and caught a bunch of leopard frogs. Then i crossed this wooden bridge, looked down at the water, and so a yellow patern leech swimming thing. I shined it again at it was a spotted salamader, so i caught it. And took a few cell phone pics, however, idk how to send them to my email.

Lol and speaking of mountain lions, me and my friends were talking about how black bears are probaly coming out of hibernation!!
