Last night I fed my crayfish shrimp for the first time. He is an adult crayfish, and maybe the shrimp was the size of his abdomen almost. Just regular shrimp for human consumption, I thawed it out and washed it. Today I found him floating on the water on his side. I touched him and he is alive, but I am very worried. Do you think I gave him too much shrimp? What can I do to make sure he survives? Thankyou...

huh...thats a new one for me. I dont think theres much you can do but wait.

Best of luck

Its probably molting... so it will probably be fine in a day.. or its dying as the other guys said..

You can try isolating it in a bucket and really amping the O2 levels.

Many years ago, when i was still living with my parents I had a redfclaw crayfish which I had for about 2 or 3 years. When I was away for the weekend he escaped and my parents found him in the hallway a good 20 meters away from my room all dry, but still alive. When they put him back in the water he did exactly what your one is doing, just rolling onto his side. My Mum says that she stayed up for most of the night constantly flipping him upright til he just walked away and was fine. Good Mum eh?
I just put the flipping on the side down to some sort of stress. is there anything in the tank with him that would freak him out?

What could I use to raise the oxygen levels?

He thankfully seems to be doing better now...but I am still worried. He lives completely alone, and has a cave that he hides in most of the time.

check temps my blue crayfish did the same when the heater broke - to cold

That and shrimp contains a bacteria in it that can harmful to crayfish. This is from the crayfish forum i am usually on.
"shrimps may carry the white spot symptom virus (WSSV). WSSV can kill crayfish and is still present in frozen shrimps.

shrimps produced by intensive farming may also contain high loads of antibiotica and other medicaments..."

I believe after shrimp is cooked and processed like in shrimp pellets its fine
