Just gave my eheim canister a tap ...

And air came out of the spray bar. Did I prime it wrong? I shook the unit gently and more air came out and it made a kind of gurgling noise. Is this normal ? Should I agitate it to see if theres more air in it ? Is it harmful ?

that happens every time i open it to clean it or whatever with the tap yesterday i was trying to get the top of it to open it and the tap was shut i couldnt get the top off i was getting fairly angry till i realized there would be like a vacuum thing in it so opened the tap and the top came off with the air its just getting the air out of it unless the air keeps coming then it would be an air stone near the intake or an openong somewhere in the tubing or the tap make shure everything is tight

This is normal. You can let it run and most of the air will come out. Is this a classic series? If so, I close the output, lift the motor/pump a little bit, close the intake, open the output and push the head back down. Sometimes this will force the air out. If you're using an Ecco, the procedure would be similar, but I can't help you if you're using a pro.
