Trying to setup a new tank. never did this before and just wanted some ideas of tank size, brand of tank, type of fish, and basically the whole setup......thanks

wasup gman.......thanks for the reply............$1000.00 is my budget for everything.........tank..stand..filter....gravel/rock....decorations.....fish....everything.........
i want some rare and aggressive fish.......i know that is too generic......give me some recommendations if you don't mind.........

If you've never kept fish before i suggest getting a fairly cheap 55 gallon tank to start off with so you can learn the process. Once you have it mastered go for the big stuff:)

Just remember, in this hobby, everything that happens fast is bad. Take your time, do your homework and read, read, read.

1000.00 is a nice starter tank...LOL. I agree with rallysman, don't go all out right from the start. You might not like the hobby. I would start with a 75 gallon aquarium with a nice stand. A good starter filter would be an AquaClear 500. A titanium heater (150watt) with the seperate temp. control. A good air pump with airline and air stone(Good for gas exchange). Some background for the glass. Pick up some sand blasting gravel, 50lb bag will work. Make sure you rinse this well. You will also need maintenece items. Pick up a big bottle of Prime(removes chlorine and chloramines), Test kit to measure Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates, and a gravel vacumn to do water changes. Get a new 5 gallon bucket for water changes. I would tell you to get the python water change system but.......you are a newbie and need to experience the joy of carrying full buckets of water in and out of the house...LOL
