I just picked up a 35 gal with a t8 lighting canopy. It's got two bulbs stretching across the length of the tank. This is the first time I've had real decent lighting so I want to get some of the higher light requirement plants and set up a nice plant tank. Ive only ever kept java moss/fern, christmas moss and a few crypts so Im pretty virgin to this. Ive never piddled with Co2 injectors but I know I need one for good growth.

My question is:

What are some neat plants I could keep in this sort of setup?

How would I go about constructing a DIY Co2 injector or if the process is too involved, what is a good quality one to purchase? Once I've got the injector, what are the basics of operating it optimally?

I rooted my java fern to driftwood but I imagine not all plants operate that way. I put small light coloured stones in the tank as substrate to reflect the most light back up towards the plants. I'm not interested in the expensive plant substrates available at the lfs.

I'm probably going to have a school of barbs or danios in there, so it'll have a hydrosponge filter; not sure if either would affect the plants.

Any advice would be most welcome! :D
