Its ok. wash the sand first to remove small particles that float

Look to the left on the page at "Where to Buy" and search places near you. A 50 pound bag of black T-grade will be about $30, S-grade is about $25. One bag will be perfect for your new 55g tank.

Side note: both grades of sand require a lot of cleaning...I mean A LOT! Protip - cut a hole in the top of the bag and stick a garden hose in the sand and to the bottom of the bag, then turn on the hose and let it sit like that with the water coming out the hole for over 9000 hours.

good luck with those fish housed together in a 55. it will work for about 6 months and then your going to have to buy a 100g or more; and if you think sand expensive!!
