just got a 60 gal. help me stock its

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You may want to rethink your stocking since most of those fish you listed will need a larger tank. Your 60 gal is probably just enough for just one oscar unless you over filter it and do more water changes. Also since most of those fish needs to be in large groups and are very active fish, the 60 gal will eventually be too cramped for them.

Try yoyo and kubotai loaches instead of clown loaches. Remember to keep them at a minimum of 5 in number. Spotted silver dollars will be your best bet for the mid level.

Tinfoils and Sharks will be cramped in a 60. The O might snack on CLs.

Those are all great fish... but they don't all mesh so which one is your favs? I'd go with three barbs and an O with armored cories and a lobster then plan on getting a huge tank asapins, and turn your 60gal. into giant danio farm!!

yes, i would agree with the above replies. clown loaches will def get too big for that size and even an oscar would be unhappy in there after some time, then you would need to re-home or upgrade, also when you bala sharks these are sensitive to new tanks and they will outgrow your tank sooner than you think - i had two in a 100 gallon (for four and a half years) then i had to re-home them. why don't you try a community tank? How about starting with a shoal of corydoras and go on from there - just an idea but at the end of the day depends on what your tastes are. just make sure when you buy your fish its always best to think about how big they will be when fully grown and if your tank will be able to handle it.

oscars are really nice fish, I like to feed them feeder fish. The kids love to watch the oscar chase the feeders around the tank to eat them.

i want to keep clown loaches, tinfoil/bala/any shark, silver dollar? and an oscar?

can u guys give me how many of each i should get.

obviosly
1 x oscar

Tinfoils are fast growers that get too big for a 60 and will even outgrow my 100 Gallon.
Clown Loaches get to be a foot, but that will take several years.
Balas are rather fast growers, but very peaceful and passive. I've never tried them with oscars.
1 Oscar will need a 75+G if you plan on keeping him for life.

Perhaps a single specimen tank?

Bad idea. Back when I barely knew anything, I had two tinfoils with a crayfish, and they ate him when he molted. Also, I've seen a picture of an oscar with a crayfish in it's mouth. Cories might get destroyed by the oscar.

Just to show you how big tinfoils get, I'll post some pics in their old 55G and in the 100G now. Mine are about 9'' right now, and not even full grown (they get WAY bigger). I will also post a picture I found (NOT MINE) of a bala next to a ten gallon.
