well I just got a bamboo shark ! hes about 5 inches , really skinny .. he was eating at the store which im really happy about ! also what I wanted to ask was.. my mom has a fish packed in an unopen package . they are called silver fish . I was just wondering would I be able to feed them to the shark ?

the store said wait a whole day before feeding him .. but hes soo little and skinny and I wont be home till 6 30 tomorrow . I don't want it too die :( ?

With a fish that small I would recommend feeding very small cut up pieces of silversides. You must also add to that diet. When the shark is still small large mysis shrimp will be helpful. Also, squid, shrimp, scallops, clams, other white marine fish cut into suitable sizes will all be necessary for a varied diet. Vitamin supplements of Selcon(or like product) and Iodine are a must. Sharks are very susceptible to goiters from a lack of Iodine. The food you feed should be soaked in these solutions before feeding. Make sure you do not dump the liquid in the tank! Also, feeding with a stick or tongs will be needed because it is hard for the shark to find food in an aquarium. So feed small amounts at a time that you see the shark consume.

My question for you is....why would you buy a specimen that is skinny and you are worried will die?????

What was it fed that you saw in the store?????
If the shark was indeed eating and healthy in the store, it would last at least a couple weeks just fine without food at that size and much longer when bigger.

What size tank do you have? Other fish in the tank? Filtration?
