I ordered a partial pinstripe crestie from pangea reptiles and just got him 2 days ago. I decided to name him Lucky since he was trapped in a snowstorm for two days before I got him. But since Matt packed the package well, he was fine.

I have a few ???s

My room temp is around 70, I only have a small flourescent light on it. Should I get like a undertank heater or something or is this alright?

Also I have some spagnum moss in there, during the day he is usually in the moss, but at night he is all over the cage. Is this normal? I know there noctural but i didnt think that he would be on the ground during the day.

Ill have some pics up as soon as a find my camera. Thanks

If I were you I would pick up a temp probe or gun to accurately measure the temperature. Room temp is fine but you should provide them some additional heat if they choose to use it. Go for a temp in the high 70's in one section of your setup. Because I have me Crested tank in my basement, I have to use a small 40 watt heat emitter to achieve this. I have a temp gradient of from 82-65 in my setup.

It's normal for Cresteds to sleep on or near the ground during the day. This is exactly what they do in the wild. Their coloring turns all washed out when they're asleep to blend in with dead leaves near the forest floor. Your gecko sound nice and healthy, can't wait to see some pics of it.

i have a temp and humidity gauge in the tank. Thats where I got the 70 degrees from.

A good tip if you get a dial one is check all them if all are at the same temp you know its calibrated correctly if all are different temps don't purchase

Another question i took him out becuse i was afraid he wasnt eating. I got him to eat some repeshy crested gecko diet off of a spoon. So i put some in his cage near nightime and turn off the light for the day. I dont really see any difference in the amount I put in. He could bee eating a little, I dont know. He is only 8-10 weeks old. Right now the dish is on the ground, should i try to suspend on the side or something? Thanks

Baby cresties don't eat a whole lot. A good tip is to look for poo, if he is pooping he is eating.
