I just got a little Fahaka at 1.5"s, he is so cute and awesome. He ate some bloodworms this morning; my first fish to get to eat so easily, it was meant to be. I was just wondering what I should feed him when he is this small? I picked up a big pack of blood worms for him, my fridge is packed with frozen raw shrimp, and I know they need hard stuff like muscles and crab legs. Also I have read that when small I should feed every other day and when he gets bigger every third day or something like that, is that true? I have also read that some need their teeth clipped, what is that all aboot? and who takes care of their teeth in the wild?

Since he is so small I have him growing out in a 20gal, and when he gets bigger he will be taking over my 220gal.

Apparently if you put it in HD you can heat the audio.

Normally its SAPS (South American Puffers) that need dentistry done, since their teeth grow exceptionally fast even on a hard shelled diet...

As for Fahakas, as long as you give them hard shelled foods around 1 - 2 times a week, there teeth shouldn't require any actual dentistry... when small though, yes you can feed every other day, and when older every 2 -3 days depending on how full your puffer looks...

Anyway, best of luck with your lil fella, and hope you enjoy keeping your Fahaka, as i know mine is a great pet...

Thanks, what else should I feed him at this size? Is it ok to give him small pieces of shrimp? Or just keep him on bloodworms for now?

anything is fine as long as its small enough to eat it...

Mine when it was 1.5 "- 2" use to just rip away at a full piece of scallop... then once she seemed filled, i would remove the leftover and chuck it out or feed it to my marble crays...

So really, no need to limit yourself to just bloodworms...

my Fahaka is around 18 inches now, hard to believe they start out that small. I have owned every fish known to man, between the Fahaka and Mbu is tie for the best wet pet. I get to pet my fahaka, rub her head and belly, seriously like a dog. I also feed mine everyday, but only because i know how fast her digestion period takes.

I have been feeding a little every morning the last few days, I also added a second AC30 to the tank. I rotate between bloodworms, shrimp, and scallops.

Just trying this, this is the feeding video with audio.
