I just bought a 5' x 2' x 2.5', how many gallons is that btw?

Also, so far I plan to keep a volitan and a snowflake eel, what else can I keep with them and can still maintain peace within the tank? I was thinking about puffers but then I read else where on other threads that puffers will nibble my eel, and I think I will treasure my eel more than anything.

Also, any cleaning crew I can have in there and possibly not become food for the eel?

Thanks guys, currently in the process of setting the tank up. Have to give it a rinse, then I will add water and LR. Also took my awhile to figure how to set the sump up because its my first time. How soon do you think I can add fish? Half the LR has already been cured for months, and other half are new, bought with the 5', and also I have a cannister running for the last 3 months, so seeding the tank isn't a problem.

Your looking at 360 Gallons < awsome tank!
As for your clean up crew, i think your eel is just going to find everything to be a tasty snack

yeah eels and lions are notroius crustacean eaters. i would just do most of the cleaning yourself. a little harder but not as pricey.

sorry to say but i work it out at about 180 gal

still a nice size tank tho

Yeah I have 180 too.

Good luck and SWEETNESS

yeah I have 180 too... where'd you get 360 from? Sounds like it's going to be a very nicely done tank, pics pls when it's set up with fish :)

I thought it wasn't 360G, 'cause that seemed abit large, but anyway thanks chico and everyone else!

What else can be tankmates with these two fish? I was thinking also a yellow tang, and I also heard both fish are reef compaitable, right?

0re you getting a volitans or putting the dwarf lion in there? if you put the dwarf in there you have more options.
you could do some bannerfish and othere hardy 'flies
tangs are good
a bunch of damsels and see how long they'll last .lol
squirrel fish
as for inverts the eel and lion are NOT reef safe and i don't know who told you that.

No, the dwarf was meant to be for my 20G I had before, but now I opt for the biggest lion!

i'm not sure about the eel, but I've read this from here http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/fm/feature/index.php:
According to Michaels (1998), lionfish are ideal candidates for reef aquariums. While I agree that these fish won't harm any corals, they limit tankmate selections [Figure 3]. If a reef tank has no fish equal to or smaller than the lionfish, no ornamental shrimp or crabs, then lionfish are acceptable.
I'm know about not being able to keep shrimps and stuff like that, but according to that article, they do fine with corals, has anyone tried? I don't plan on adding coral just yet, only a FOWLR, but might be tempted in the future to do so.

I plan on maybe adding a couple of dominos in there (cuase my girlfriend loves them...for some reason:confused: ), just to test the water and help run in the tank. Will eels get my hermit crabs (eventually)?

Man I really want that volitan, but there's so many other fishes I wanna keep as well. Any other fish that will go well with the combo that comes to mind? What about fish like the coral cats? I read they get to about 30cm? is that true?

Also, how many tangs do you think I can put in a 5' before they start killing each other? So far I got my eyes on a Yellow and a Scorpax (is that how you spell it?)
