Just got sen today. What should I expect in the first few days, what should I feed him, when should I expect him to start eating? Thanks in advance

sinking pellets (hikiri carnivores), talapia chunks, market shrimp.

expect to lie on the bottom like a rock. When i first got my first bichir, I thought mine died overnight since it didn't move a muscle. I've never kept a fish less active than bichirs lol

oh nice man! you have pics? :) and how many inches?

diet: best diet for bichirs is chopped tilapia and smelt.

His home. It's a 29 gallon any top level fish or other tank mates you can suggest that he shouldn't eat. It's only him in their currently and it's only a grow out tank

My friend bought one after seeing how attached I am to mine. His is active as HELL; lives with a bunch of cichlids; and happily competes for frozen bloodworms with his tankmates.

Actually, it was really cool: One night last week I went over there with my better half for dinner and drinks. He keeps his doors open when it's nice, and I noticed a large green grasshopper in his kitchen (where he keeps his tank). I told him how much my Aro used to like crickets, and he decided to throw the grasshopper in (not something I would do to with my own tanks for fear of pesticides, but hey, we'd had a few). It was awesome, the first REAL strike actually came from his 3" sen. bichir. After that, all of his young cichlids joined in and the thing was destroyed.... Sorry, I seem to have gone on a bit of a tangent. I just really like these fish.
