Hey everyone.
I just got a teacup ray and was hoping for a little advice from anyone who has one, knows anything about them, or knows about rays in general. First of all I included some pictures that I just took about 5 minutes ago. Something I noticed was that when he stuck to the side of the tank like this you could see his (ribs?) Which makes me concerned that he is malnourished. Do you think that is the case. If so what is the best way you think to fatten him up? I tried blood worms and krill. He didn't go for either of those. He is a little too small for feeders I think. He is really active which I think is a good thing but when he gets to the top of the tank he like tries to jump out. Is this normal exploring or is there something wrong? We checked the water and everything looks fine. I also included a picture of his underneath. It looks fine to me but maybe someone who is a little more familiar could agree?
I choose to get a teacup because I know they produce a lot of ammonia as they grow and we only have a 150gal to house him in for now, so I thought a teacup would be a better choice that a motoro or a bigger ray. (Yes I know the teacup could still get 13"+) but I think for the tank we have now he should be happy for a while
Anyways, any other advice other than the answers to my questions would be great. The most important thing I have taken away from owning a ray is water changes, water changes, water changes.
Thanks,
Ashley
