just got an rtc about 3 inches. what do you guys feed your juevies? plus he's in a 150 gal right now so would i have to hand feed him? he won't come up for krill would he.

Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets, cut up market shrimp or white bait etc.. he wont stay 3 inches for long, and when he gets bigger hell pretty much eat everything lol congrats on the new cat, and a special congrats on it being an RTC the best catfish you can get :D:D:D

oooohh... thats a big tank for a 3 inch cat. try putting it in a smaller tank for the mean time or put a divider in the tank so that he doest miss out the food. do it step by step. its not advisable to put it in that big tank at that size.

frozen bloodworm or krills will do good but if you can get your hands on a good quality sinking pellets then much better.

I agree with yohan. If it is in a big tank, use a separator to limit his space. ... at least until it starts eating.

Congrats on the RTC - you will not regret it (just choose tank mates wisely ^^ for the new comers sake lol). Feed him blood worms while he is tiny. Market shrimp (chopped with no shell yet). Earthworms (if you are not squimish). Let it have its childhood, no need to go all out into pellets yet (though wouldn't hurt to introduce him to it)

Pictures soon, yes?

I think he'll do fine in that size tank starting out. Just drop food close to him, and he should do the rest. At that size, chopped shrimp, bloodworms, pellets, ect should all do the job. If you feed him after lights out he'll cruise around the whole tank and will eat anything left in the open as he will examine and taste every square inch with his wiskers. I never have a problem with rtc eating as I just hand feed them always.

I hand fed my RTC within the first hour of getting him. Of course he was about 4.5-5" when I got him, but now he's on silver sides and perch fillets, and ill be adding shrimp as soon as I get my butt to the store. Just cut stuff up so its nice and bite size. He'll love it.
And congrats on the RTC. They have to be some of the coolest cats!

RTC is really a great fish and yea feeding it shouldnt be a problem if u look what everyone else here wrote.

yeah his space is limited because all the does is stay in this little cave i have for him lol and i just dropped small pieces of shrimp for him in the cave and he ate them!
