ok, I traded in 3 Juvenile fish
Oscar, RD, and Senegal Bichir

For an even trade on an 8" (or larger) oscar

It has good colors. I also paid $11 for a pink convict female and a regular convict male... (for my 20G long)

Did i get a good deal or ripped off?

BTW oscar is in a 55G by himself

This hobby isn't about "getting a good deal" it's about enjoying the fish you own. If you want to find a good deal go shop at Goodwill.

I think baby Oscars are adorable, so I've always prefered to grow mine out from as small as possible...

My local Craigslist adds commonly offer adult Oscars for free. This is usually because someone has a grossly undersized tank and the Oscar quickly outgrew the tankk. Therefore risks of poor health, hole in the head and stunted growth come with such free fish...

How much did you pay for the 3 fish you traded in? add that up and then ask yourself are you happy with that price tag on your new Oscar. Without knowing what you paid for the fish you traded in and without seeing the 'quality' of your new Oscar there is no way we can suggest if it was a good deal or not.

Oscars grow fast, and I love polys.

Getting rid of the RD was a good choice. In the end good is a relative term. Do you think you made a wise choice? That answer is all that you need.

You got rid of a poly...

:iagree: I love the look of baby oscar and now your going to upgrade faster for your oscar. But, whatever makes you happy makes it worth it.

Well... I couldnt house the RD AND Oscar together for life, and the 20G long tank was too small for the poly (I love them but I couldnt bring myself to let it live a miserable life in a small tank)

Basically I wanted to buy a larger fish because im a big guy and I like big things... ( I have an American Bulldog if that says anything lol) But I didnt want the big guy to eat my little O so I traded him in too

All in all I am happy with my purchase and the new O has LOTS more color to him... anybody want a pic?

well here is how much the fish I bought myself were

Bichir- about 7
RD- about 9
Baby O- about 15

So $31 on my new O and I will get a pic up in a minute (he is stressed from the 45 minute drive home so I will post even better pics later =) also my water is cloudy from the substrate change

And 1 more question... why was my male striped convict $3.99 and my female pink convict $6.99

and the pic of my sand i took to ask if i had too much sand in the tank
