xander, i would think about what was different while you were away and try to replicate those conditions (aside from your physical absence). was it because of less food? less messing with the tank? fewer large, inappropriate random tankmates being added (temporarily or not) to the tank? either way, the gar looks better, so try to maintain whatever has worked. best of luck and keep tabs on the water parameters--
