Where eva theres Cichla!!!
hey guys,

finally got my fluval FX5,got it home, pulled it all outta the box. layed all the components only to find no ceramic noodles.... :( just wonderin if veramic noodles come standard with the filter or whether u have to buy em urself?? my mate who works there told me it came with everything!

mine came with the sponge stuff that goes in the inserts...and the guy said it would be ready to plug n go...what's what annoys me!

ah ok!! fair enuf...the ceramic noodles area available at all aquariums yea?? ive never had to buy em b4 lol

I use Fluval BIOMAX Filter Media in the bottom basket and Fluval Pre-Filter Media in the top two....this combination has worked the best for me. be sure to rinse throughly so no small pieces get through and into your impeller.

i bought bio balls today and all is well....however...
just curious it keeps turning off i think it's cause of my hose set-up...i have a a loop in the hose, do all u guys have straight hoses?? with no loops/kinks?

bio-balls really rean't ideal to run in anything besides w/d filters. They don't have a very high amount of surface area and in a canister they are just pretty much taking up space. You are MUCH better off with bio-max, ceramic cylinders (i don't know what noodles are) or even nylon pot scrubber material would work better.

yeah i will...change em soon..just thoguht of bio balls so i could actually set it up...and get it goin!! i've trimmed the hoses and now it's working a dream....however!!! it keeps turning it's self off!!! only been on 5 mins and now it's turned off...there wasnt any air in it either...arg...tis doin my head in.....
