So like the title I just picked up a 5" silver arowana and a 2" peacock bass. Ive been dying to get these for a while but couldnt because my tank is filled with Piranhas.... So I went and got a new setup. Will post pics soon.
My question is, I have pellets for them, but they dont seem to be taking them, will they eventually get so hungry that they will eat the pellets like piranhas do or should I feed them bloodworms until they start eating the pellets?

You should keep feeding your Aro, what ever the LFS was feeding him before you picked him up. Let him adapt to your tank, keep him on a stable diet and make sure he is healthy. Wait Like 2 months then you can start to introduce/withhold food. Also for example, it took my BLK Aro 2 weeks to eat for the first time when I got him. So It can take time.

Also ya you have a good chance of turning the lights on one day with no Pbass.

Good luck and keep your Tank covered. If you have any other Questions, give me a shout! Good Luck!

Thanks, I actually got the pbass and aro from the same tank at the store, and they just stay on opposite sides of the tank. But really two weeks? That seems really long. Right now Im just dropping in two or three sticks and waiting five minutes and if they are still there Im taking them out, should I continue this way or is there something else I should try?

Either way, just be careful, its very possible it'll just randomly eat your pbass. Two weeks isnt that long actually, but for now, the point is to get it nice and fat first, so try out some other foods, cut up market shrimp, bloodworms, crickets, etc.

if the lfs fed him live, you have to be patient before they accept sticks... how big is the pbass? if it fits in his mouth, it will eat that before accepting sticks of anykind (high likelihood).

congrats on your new purchase and hope he grows into a real monster.

my current green ate 4 days after purchase (but he is feeding on live) and it takes about 3-5 days to train on new foods
