Just had to rescue my cory :(

OK I've read over & over how O's and other larger cichlids will try to eat corys but in all my years keeping those fish I've never had it happen. I've had the odd O grab one & immediately spit him out, and never try it again...that's it. Well here comes my daughter, frantic - "Daddy!!! The oscar is eating out catfish!!!". And I'm thinking the cat died & he's having a go at eating it. Well there he is, with the tail sticking out, and I'm pretty sure the cory is alive. So I reached in & grabbed the O, who lets go...and the cory jumps OUT of the tank.

Anyway, cory is back in and I'm trying to figure how to shuffle fish around. I had put my Anostomus gracilis in the 55 because it was nipping the hell out of the pleco & corys, so I guess the pleco & corys go in the 55 and the gracilis goes back in the 75 with the O.

So I guess O's really do eat corys...I think it's because he's a white O, they're dumber then the normal ones :(
 
Yeah it was pretty funny...when he let go the cory did that beeline for the surface, ya know how they grab an air bubble? but instead he just shot right out and was laying on the other glass lid. I didn't notice & spent 30 seconds or so looking round the tank to find him, and here he is laying on the cover. Probably figured he was safer up there, breathing be damned.
 
Don't you hate it when the fish don't do what we think they are supposed to:nilly:

That just adds to it! Can you imagine what the fish was thinking sitting on the glass.

...I can see the water but I can't get to it... hmmm. :screwy:
 
Well...he didn't make it :( Not so funny any more :( I know it's "only" a cory but I love those little buggers...
