4 1/2 hours ago I left my house after watching my fish for several hours. When I left they were all swimming around just fine and showing no signs of bad health. I just got home and one of my 3 baby jaguar cichlids (only an inch long each) was stuck to the water intake for the filter. He was all bloated, his mouth wide open, and his gills all flared out. His fins were in perfect condition and so was the rest of his body so he wasn't attacked by other fish and killed that way. Could it be that he just got sucked onto the filter intake and couldnt get off? I have never had this problem before with these fish as they swim by the intake al the time. I squeezed his bloated body and a TON of red poop came out and a bunch of air. Maybe he had a blockage or an infection of some sorts in his digestive tract? any ideas what couldve cause his sudden death? I have 2 others that I want to avoid the same death.

What are you feeding them? Have you treated fpr IPs since you got them? Prazi-Pro is mild and good for deworming new fish. Any sign of white stringy poop at all?

Sorry to hear you lost one Wes didn't know you had Jags ive got 3 juveniles myself from the looks i know one is a male ill have to post some pics.....but anyway sorry to hear that....:(

Yeah it sucks. My other two are doing great. I removed the divider keeping the bigger fish away. My 3 biggest fish don't even bother with them and the smaller ones are scared of them, even though the jags are smaller. I'm very happy with my current stock. Minus one :(
