I little :swear: bc I bought the little 1.5" guy two weeks ago (he was the smallest and skinnest of the group, in the corner covered with ich, but I figured I'd give it a shot bc he was a longfin, and I have been looking for another for awhile), put him in a quarentine w/salt and raised temp, got rid of the ich, got him feeding, and he started to actually swim around. Had to take him home for spring break, as it wouldn't last a week without eating, slid off the road into the median due to the snow, and while waiting for a tow truck for two hours, I think his bag got too cold and the change gave him ich again, so I redid the quarentine process at my house, but it just got worse over the course of three days and he didnt pull through, dying tonight. Just kinda upset bc he pulled through and was doing so well the first time :irked:

sorry to hear that :(

unfortunately, despite feeling sorry for the fish, you should never ever pick up the sickest looking ones

Thanks, I knew it was a gamble, don't get me wrong, but being a longfin/vieltail (which aside from buying the one in my avatar and this one, I havent seen another around here) I figured I'd take the risk. I'm just more upset that it did recover, only to have unforseen future events lead to it's demise.

I know your intentions were good, so don't feel so bad. Try to find another!

Too bad uncontrollable circumstances pushed the stressed little bugger too far over the edge for you bring it back again. I too prolly woulda taken the gamble on a longfin/veiltail too (if given the tank space) as they arent common around here unless a special $$ order.

Hey there chief! Lol
Sucks to lose a fish but look on the bright side, now you get to shop
for another one. I always enjoyed fishing for the "one", ya dig?
Any pics of the baby longfin/veiltail?? Never seen a baby one before..

lol but i thought i was copper? Anyhow heres the pics as to what to look for, this is mine dead and the pic isnt the best (besides the fact that the fins were torn to begin with and healing), so I'll include a better pic of a young one I found online as well to show you what I mean, you should be able to tell the difference in the store w/no problems.

man i hate to hear that , oddly enof i just lost my albino tiger oscar this morning , i only had him for a week and he had a regular tiger oscar with him and they got along till i geuss the regular one decided he didnt wana be friends and chaced the albino to death. so i feel your pain .

Thanks to kscichlidfan, lemonhead, and jaguar man as well.
Most likely I am going to special order if I want another, although I am going to hit a few stores tomorrow and test my luck.
Jaguar Man, sucks to hear your loss, but I find that if you try to introduce oscars later in life together when larger, it can sometimes lead to problems (aside from the fact that your tiger oscar allready established dominance in that tank), growing them up together like your two tigers in the 50 gallon is the best way to go.

Well chief, you just got promoted! Lol

Ah... I see. Its so much easier to tell as they get bigger tho.
Its a shame. The little bugger had some nice orange.

Good luck on special ordering. I haven't got any luck.
I get more satisfied on finding exactly what I want. Fins, color, & head shape.
Online is a hit or miss deal for me.
